"I want to be a winner" Honored at the 12th Ierapetra International Film Festival

With great emotion and pride, we share a special moment for Kinoniko EKAV: our very first documentary, “I want to be a winner”, was awarded the Photography Award at the 12th Ierapetra International Film Festival.
The film, directed by Christina Vazou, is not just a cinematic creation; it is a film with heart — a work born from the lives of three children whom we hosted and raised in our Care Centers. Through their eyes, real stories of struggle, resilience, and loss unfold — but also the invaluable light of solidarity – that powerful force which supports and guides us when everything seems uncertain.

For Kinoniko EKAV, “I want to be a winner” is much more than a film. It is the imprint of a shared journey with the children who entrusted us with their story — a journey full of challenges, but also filled with dignity, care, and hope. Every image and every word in the film carries their truth, and for that reason, this award belongs first and foremost to them.

This recognition at the Ierapetra International Film Festival is both an honor and a reminder: that even the most difficult experiences can be transformed into sources of inspiration and art, when told with honesty and tenderness. It is a victory not only of the cinematic eye, but also of the courage of children to share their soul with the world.

Warm thanks are due to director Christina Vazou, editor Michalis Papadakis, Antonis Xenos for supervision, and Boo Productions for overseeing post-production. Most importantly, we thank the children themselves — for their courage, their trust, and their truth.
This award reminds us that when solidarity becomes image, the story doesn’t stay only in memory; it becomes a light that can travel far.
