The three-day visit of EmpowerHER project coordinator Walae Kasmi to Athens was an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences on the critical issue of human trafficking. During her stay, the progress and future prospects of the project were discussed, with particular emphasis on the preparation of the two-day workshop for professionals that will take place in our city next October.
Ms. Kasmi visited the Shelters for Unaccompanied Refugee Minors of Kinoniko EKAV in Piraeus and Penteli, where she had the chance to experience firsthand the daily life of the children, engage in conversations with social workers and educators, and share meaningful moments and stories with the minors themselves. These discussions highlighted both the challenges faced by the children and the stories of resilience and hope that emerge through solidarity and support.
The three days were filled with impactful images, insightful presentations by the Kinoniko EKAV team, and valuable encounters with other organizations that are actively involved in addressing human trafficking. This experience provided important input for the project’s next steps, with a shared goal of strengthening and protecting the most vulnerable members of our society.
